Within the Black community, there is a definitive saying: “Black men don’t hang themselves from trees.” This piece depicts Black men hanging from a tree in picture frames - a visual entendre I used to physically manifest this communal truth. In doing so, this work repositions the inquiry through the logic of curation: we universally agree that a picture does not hang itself. It requires an intentional hand, a specific placement, and a deliberate choice. By treating the tree as a gallery and the subject as a curated object, the question shifts from the cause of death to the identity of the curator.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Bobo to the Max","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":44051005997191,"sku":null,"price":325.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0663\/2767\/5015\/files\/1_Bobo_2026.jpg?v=1772733651","url":"https:\/\/bobotothemax.com\/products\/black-men-dont-hang-themselves-from-trees-residency","provider":"Bobo to the Max","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
